Thatch
Public factsDefined-contribution ICHRA platform
All-in-one ICHRA platform: employer sets a healthcare budget; employees buy individual medical, dental, and vision on Thatch and spend leftover funds on a Visa debit card.
Overview
Thatch administers an Individual Coverage HRA underneath a defined monthly healthcare budget. Employers connect payroll and a bank account; employees choose health, dental, and vision plans on the platform and can spend unused allowance on qualified healthcare through a Thatch Visa debit card and a curated marketplace. Thatch automates premium autopay, payroll deductions, HIPAA/compliance documentation, and (on Enterprise) ACA and COBRA support. In April 2026 Thatch announced that Venteur customers would transition onto Thatch.
Why it matters Thatch publishes list PEPM, bundles shopping, premium pay, and a spend card, and absorbed Venteur’s book in 2026 — so it is a default ICHRA option for modern employers who do not want reimbursement spreadsheets.

Overview
Thatch is a San Francisco–area health benefits platform that uses an ICHRA to deliver a single employee healthcare budget. The employer decides what to spend; employees choose medical, dental, and vision on Thatch and can apply leftover budget to other qualified healthcare. Thatch describes itself as all-in-one, with “no integration or implementation” beyond connecting payroll and bank, and a claimed five-minute setup.
Public product pieces include in-platform carrier shopping, premium autopay, a Thatch Visa debit card when insurance costs less than the budget, a curated Marketplace (examples on the site include therapy, labs, fertility, and wellness vendors), and Ask Thatch — 24/7 AI support that can accept receipt photos by text.
Investor/context notes from public sources: ADP Ventures announced a strategic investment on April 3, 2025. Thatch’s April 1, 2026 press release said it is backed by Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, and Index Ventures, and that employers, employees, and brokers then served by Venteur would move to Thatch. Venteur’s own site later stated it had closed and that former account holders should retrieve records before July 1 (year stated on Venteur’s wind-down page).
Thatch publishes live support metrics on the homepage (figures change): example snapshot included 2.4-hour average response time, 84% CSAT, and 99.9% enrollment accuracy, each compared to an industry average Thatch cites.
Key Capabilities
- Employer sets monthly budgets (the site’s calculator examples use figures such as $545 employee / $845 employee+1 / $1,145 employee+2 or more; those are illustrations, not required allowances).
- Budget classes by location or other factors; ICHRA classes can differ by team, location, or status (including remote and part-time).
- Employees shop health, dental, and vision from “the country’s top carriers” on Thatch and can choose a plan their doctor takes. Thatch says it can help employees in every state find coverage.
- Automatic premium payment and payroll deductions.
- Leftover budget: Thatch Visa debit card for prescriptions, copays, therapy, and similar qualified costs; Marketplace pricing on curated services using the same tax-free allowance.
- Ask Thatch for coverage questions, receipt submission, and account help.
- Compliance: automated HIPAA and compliance documentation; Enterprise adds ACA compliance for large employers plus COBRA.
- Mid-year start: Thatch says groups can switch any time of year, not only at open enrollment, and that Thatch will help cancel the prior plan.
- Broker tools: instant quoting, automated billing and payouts.
Integrations & Ecosystem
Thatch states the product “works with all payroll providers and insurance plans” and that setup is connecting payroll and bank. A public named list of payroll connectors was not captured on the pricing or homepage review. Carrier inventory is described qualitatively (“country’s top carriers”) rather than as a published appointment roster.
ADP Ventures’ 2025 investment is public; it should not be read as a guaranteed ADP product integration unless Thatch lists one.
Venteur customer migration (announced April 1, 2026) is part of the current ecosystem; former Venteur groups should confirm their live administrator.
Pricing
Published on https://thatch.com/pricing (confirm before quoting):
- Standard (1–49 eligible employees): $45 per enrolled employee per month, subject to a minimum fee, plus a compliance fee starting at $25 per month. Includes automated administration, payroll integration, HIPAA/compliance documentation, AI enrollment support, premium autopay, and the Thatch debit card.
- Enterprise (50+ eligible employees): custom per enrolled employee per month. Adds ACA compliance and COBRA, white-glove implementation, and a dedicated client success manager.
The FAQ states the monthly compliance fee covers payments, reporting, plan administration, and payroll deductions. Confirm whether waived employees, dependents, and minimums apply to a given quote.
Notes & Limitations
- Thatch is an ICHRA administrator with a consumer-style budget/card UX; leftover-fund rules and Marketplace eligibility are plan-design and tax questions, not just product marketing.
- “Works with all payroll providers” is the vendor’s claim; verify the employer’s payroll system before go-live.
- Standard vs Enterprise is split at 50 eligible employees (ACA/COBRA features sit on Enterprise).
- Venteur shut down and pointed customers to retrieve records; do not treat venteur.com as a living administrator.
- Support metrics, savings vs group, and enrollment-accuracy claims are vendor-reported.
- “National” is based on Thatch’s every-state coverage language; confirm carrier availability by employee ZIP.
