Group life, disability, supplemental health, and stop-loss

Voya Employee Benefits (ReliaStar) workplace life, disability, leave, supplemental health, and direct-written medical stop-loss, plus Benefitfocus as Voya’s benefits-admin platform.

Overview

Voya Employee Benefits is a division of ReliaStar Life Insurance Company (Minneapolis, MN) and ReliaStar Life Insurance Company of New York (Woodbury, NY). Public workplace pages and product flyers list group term life, whole life, Lifetime Life, STD and LTD, leave management (with Disability RMS), accident, critical illness/specified disease, hospital indemnity, and stop-loss (individual and aggregate excess risk). Stop-loss is described as a dedicated direct write for self-funded groups down to 100 lives and individual deductibles down to $25,000, with Stop Loss Edge for 101–500 employee plan sponsors. Voya completed its acquisition of Benefitfocus on January 24, 2023. New York business is issued only by ReliaStar Life of New York.

Why it matters Voya is a stop-loss direct writer and a life/disability carrier, and it owns Benefitfocus—relevant when admin and risk paper are evaluated together.
