Unified workforce platform benefits

AI-powered benefits administration on Rippling’s unified HR/payroll platform: enrollment, HSA/FSA/commuter, COBRA, ACA, carrier EOI processing, and broker or in-house brokerage options.

Overview

Rippling is a workforce platform that combines HR, payroll, IT, and finance on one employee data layer. Benefits Administration is a purchasable product on that platform, not a standalone HRIS add-on. Official pages describe automatic new-hire enrollment, payroll-synced deductions, AI review of dependent documents, bulk EOI file processing, COBRA notices, ACA tracking/filing, and a benefits marketplace. Rippling states it does not integrate with other HR systems; buyers are expected to run HR and benefits on Rippling.

Why it matters Rippling treats benefits as another app on a single employee graph, which removes payroll-connector work but also means it is not designed to sit beside a different HRIS.

Target buyer
Growth-stage and mid-market employers that will use Rippling as the system of record for HR and payroll, including companies with multi-state or multi-country workforces.
Pricing model
Modular PEPM plus required Rippling platform; custom quote
Official pricing pages say each HR/Finance/IT product (including Benefits) can be purchased separately alongside a required core platform, billed mainly per employee per month, with some products carrying a monthly base fee. A Rippling blog review cites a starting HRIS figure of $8 PEPM plus a $35 monthly base fee; full module list prices are not on a public price card. Confirm a written quote.

Overview

Rippling markets a unified workforce platform for HR, IT, finance, and payroll. Benefits Administration is one product on that platform. The official benefits page describes a single source of truth so new hires are prompted to enroll automatically and deductions update when elections change.

Rippling’s published FAQ states it does not work with other HR systems. The intended model is to run HR, payroll, and benefits on Rippling so employee, dependent, and paycheck data stay in one graph. Buyers who need to keep Workday, UKG, or another HRIS as the system of record are outside that stated design.

The same page says Rippling can pair with Rippling PEO, Rippling’s in-house brokerage, or a third-party broker, and that employers can change that strategy later without replacing the administration system. A company blog post introduced Rippling AI for Benefits: automatic dependent-document review, bulk EOI/carrier-file processing, Flex claim checks, and employee plan Q&A.

Rippling does not publish a complete U.S. price list. Official pricing copy describes modular PEPM products plus a required platform, sometimes with a monthly base fee.

Key Capabilities

  • Online new-hire and life-event enrollment; open-enrollment tracking with reminders.
  • Employee self-service on desktop and mobile, including plan comparison and AI answers.
  • AI dependent verification: approve coverage when proof-of-relationship documents validate; ping an admin if not.
  • AI-powered EOI: upload a carrier file; the system matches decisions, updates coverage, and adjusts deductions.
  • Built-in HSA, FSA, and commuter benefits with payroll sync.
  • COBRA: enrollment invitations, notices, and premium collection.
  • ACA tracking, reporting, form submission, and filings.
  • Custom contribution schemes, waiting periods, and benefits across multiple EINs.
  • Benefits marketplace for ancillary products (examples named: fertility, identity protection).
  • Role-based permissions, custom policies, workflows, and reporting on the shared platform.

Integrations & Ecosystem

Native integration is to Rippling HR and Payroll. The benefits FAQ repeats that Rippling does not integrate as an add-on to an external HRIS.

The homepage and benefits page advertise 650+ app integrations for the wider platform (IT, finance, and other tools). Benefits-specific carrier connections and EDI submissions are described on Rippling blog/product copy; a complete public carrier list was not captured here.

Brokers can be added as users. Customer stories on rippling.com mention a Sequoia benefits integration. Global benefits copy (including a Canada page) describes working with any broker and local carriers; U.S. state-by-state availability is not published as a matrix.

Pricing

Official language: each product (Payroll, Expenses, Benefits, Device Management, and so on) can be purchased separately with the required Rippling Platform; most products are PEPM; some include or are charged as a monthly base fee.

A Rippling-authored HRIS review post cites a starting base of $8 per employee per month plus $35 per month. That is vendor blog language, not a signed price card. Third-party marketplaces quote other PEPM bands; those figures are not used as facts here.

Implementation fees and contract terms are not published. Buyers need a sales quote for the exact module mix.

Notes & Limitations

  • Not designed to coexist with a third-party HRIS; that is an explicit official limitation.
  • No public full price list for Benefits Administration.
  • “Millions of businesses” and “#1 rated on G2” claims on marketing pages are vendor-stated.
  • Carrier-connection coverage and EDI completeness vary by carrier and are not fully enumerated publicly.
  • National availability is inferred from U.S. benefits/ACA/COBRA features; a state list was not found.
  • Global/EOR and IT/finance modules are separate products.
