Public facts

ACA and Medicare individual-market quoting and enrollment

Free agent platform for ACA Marketplace and Medicare plan compare, Enhanced Direct Enrollment, and book-of-business management.

Overview

HealthSherpa (Geozoning, Inc. DBA HealthSherpa Insurance Agency) is an Enhanced Direct Enrollment (EDE) platform for individual ACA plans and, since 2024, Medicare. The vendor says it has been the largest ACA enrollment platform since 2013, with more than 20 million enrollments since 2014, 9,000+ agencies, 58,000+ brokers, and 70+ carrier partners. Agents complete Healthcare.gov-equivalent applications in about 7 minutes versus 15 minutes on Healthcare.gov (vendor comparison). The site is not Healthcare.gov; HealthSherpa must meet CMS privacy and EDE rules (45 CFR §155.220 and §155.260). Public pages also mention ICHRA servicing support.

Why it matters It is the default ACA quoting/enrollment desktop for many individual-market and ICHRA-adjacent brokers, with Medicare added in 2024.

Overview

HealthSherpa operates a consumer and agent website for individual health coverage. Legal footer: Geozoning, Inc. DBA HealthSherpa Insurance Agency; users are directed to Healthcare.gov when they need household dental enrollment on the federal Marketplace. CMS-required warning banners and privacy terms apply to the whole system.

Vendor-reported scale (homepage): more than 20 million enrolled since 2014, more than 9,000 agencies, more than 58,000 brokers, more than 70 carrier partners. Agent-feature pages add: largest ACA enrollment platform since 2013; Medicare launched in 2024; 53+ MAPD carriers; 500,000 members age into Medicare each year.

The public comparison versus Healthcare.gov: 25 pages vs 57, 7 vs 15 minutes to enroll, 5 vs 15 minutes to renew. Those timings are HealthSherpa’s.

Agent support phone numbers published: agents 888.684.1373; consumers 855.772.2663. A shop-by-state directory exists on the consumer site.

Key Capabilities

  • Licensed-agent ACA quoting and EDE submission with a shorter application than Healthcare.gov (vendor claim).
  • Medicare quoting/enrollment on a separate account type after the 2024 launch.
  • Agency controls: training/onboarding partnership, fraud prevention, AOR protections, CMS compliance, NPN control, reporting.
  • Book-of-business notifications (agents cite agent-of-record change alerts).
  • ICHRA: homepage and agent pages invite brokers who service ICHRA to use HealthSherpa; this pass did not capture a full ICHRA product spec.

Integrations & Ecosystem

Core integration is CMS EDE to the Federally Facilitated Marketplace. Carriers connect as partners; a complete public carrier table was not captured. “Business integration” is listed for agencies without a published API catalog on the pages reviewed.

Pricing

Agent accounts are free on the marketing site. HealthSherpa is itself an insurance agency (producer) as well as a technology platform; compensation details for agents versus HealthSherpa as AOR are in agent terms, not summarized as a public fee table here.

Notes & Limitations

  • Individual/ACA/Medicare quoting—not small-group medical CPQ.
  • State Marketplace (SBM) vs FFM coverage is not fully enumerated in this pass; the site has a state shop list, but “National” means U.S. individual-market positioning, not a verified 50-state EDE matrix.
  • Enrollment and timing statistics are vendor-reported.
  • Dental-only Marketplace enrollments are explicitly sent to Healthcare.gov.
