Cigna Stop Loss
Public factsCarrier-integrated stop-loss
Cigna Healthcare individual and aggregate stop-loss for self-funded medical, including incurred and paid contracts, firm quotes, and automatic reimbursement when integrated with Cigna administration.
Overview
Cigna Healthcare stop-loss is offered by Cigna Health and Life Insurance Company. The public stop-loss page defines Individual Stop Loss (ISL) and Aggregate Stop Loss (ASL). Cigna Level Funding and Cigna Healthcare ASO Plus include ISL and ASL automatically for small to medium employers. Contract types: Incurred (infinite terminal-liability period; no ISL reset; no run-out/run-in or first-renewal maturation) and Paid (paid during the policy year if incurred after the original effective date). Options include run-in/run-out, tiered pooling and aggregating specific, Renewal Advantage (45% renewal-increase cap, no new lasers or pooling-point increases), and a multi-year dividend option. Firm quotes lock rate, terms, and conditions with no updated large-claim review and no signed disclosure forms.
Why it matters Cigna stop-loss is the integrated paper that matches Cigna ASO decisions—distinct from independent writers and from the Cigna ASO administration page.

Overview
Cigna Stop Loss protects self-funded medical cash flow against high-cost claims and expensive drugs/treatments. It is a Cigna Healthcare product of Cigna Health and Life Insurance Company (and affiliates; Utah is CHLIC-only).
Two coverages: ISL (per-person annual limit) and ASL (whole-population annual limit). On Level Funding and ASO Plus, both are included automatically for the small-to-medium segment described on the page.
Cigna also offers broker CE stop-loss training and employer education sessions via local sales.
This is not Cigna ASO administration (see cigna-aso) and not Level Funding (see cigna-level-funding).
