Overview

Applied Systems sells insurance agency software. Applied Epic is the flagship AMS: browser-native, used across roles and locations, covering prospecting, pipeline, market access, quoting, accounting, reporting, and policy service. Applied’s homepage (2026) states that 7 of 10 agencies on the Business Insurance Top 100 use Epic, 60% of Reagan Consulting Best Practices agencies rely on Applied, 68% of Insurance Journal Top 100 agencies rely on Applied, and 91% of Epic G2 reviewers rate it 4 stars or higher (vendor/G2 figures).

Epic Benefits is the benefits-specific layer: screens for general plan information, rates, coverages, eligibility, stop-loss, and TPA data; commission rate tiers including flat fees; and fee-for-service tracking and billing. Applied Benefits Designer is the connected web tool for modeling, comparing, and producing branded RFPs, plan summaries, and government-mandated summaries of benefits and coverage.

Applied’s 2026 messaging emphasizes a “Digital Roundtrip” from prospecting through servicing and financial automation, with insurance-specific AI (email summarization, AutoFill). An August 18, 2026 release described an agentic email-to-quote channel powered by Cytora for carriers. An August 12, 2026 release announced a vendor certification program for integrations.

Integrations & Ecosystem

Applied documents a direct Benefits Designer ↔ Epic handoff so selected plans, rates, and enrollment counts move into the AMS without rekey. A further integration sends plan data from Epic into Employee Navigator for enrollment.

Personal-lines Epic Quotes uses EZLynx’s insurer library (Applied cites more than 525 insurers). Commercial Epic Quotes embeds Tarmika comparative rating. Carrier download and insurer connectivity are part of the core AMS.

Pricing

No public PEPM, per-user, or implementation schedule appears on appliedsystems.com. Commercial terms are quote-based. Applied lists 800.999.5368 on older product sheets.

Notes & Limitations

• Assigned category is quoting/proposal, not Broker CRM, even though Epic is also an AMS/CRM of record.
• Native benefits rating of live carrier medical rates (as in a Zywave-style CPQ) is not what Applied’s public Benefits sheets describe; Benefits Designer is plan modeling and presentation, with placement data flowing back to Epic.
• Rankings and G2 scores are vendor-cited.
• “National” is inferred from U.S. independent-agency positioning; no state-exclusion matrix was found.
